The "Bear Jaws" first appeared in the 1997 Bear MGC Catalog
2000 Bear Cutlery Catalog
Note that the 2000 Catalog is marked "a division of Swiss Army Brands, Inc". Swiss Army Brands Inc purchased all assets of Bear MGC Cutlery Inc in April 1999. The Griffey family bought back the family business on March 19, 2004 and now the company name is Bear and Son Cutlery Inc.
